IBEW Praises Biden’s Commitment to ‘Buy America,’ Supports Veto of S.J. Res. 38

IBEW International President Kenneth W. Cooper issued the following statement in response to President Biden’s veto of S.J. Res. 38:

“The Biden-Harris administration has introduced some of the strongest ‘Buy America’ requirements we have seen in generations. These rules ensure that federal money goes to supporting American factories and American jobs, helping revive our domestic manufacturing sector.

“Because of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act, and its commitment to ‘Buy America’, we’ve seen great progress in building a robust domestic supply chain for EV charging technology. And that means jobs for IBEW members, both in manufacturing and construction.

“That is why I support President Biden’s veto of S.J. Res. 38. This resolution would disrupt the advances we have made in making a national EV charging infrastructure a reality, and put family-sustaining, American jobs at risk.”

“This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to rebuild American manufacturing, and the men and women of the IBEW are committed to working with the Biden-Harris Administration and lawmakers from both parties in making the United States the world’s most reliable and efficient producer of clean energy and advanced technology.”
