IBEW, PGA Tour Reach Historic First Broadcast Agreement

On Nov. 16, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the PGA Tour reached a tentative first agreement covering nearly 400 broadcast professionals who bring PGA tour events to viewers around the world.

Since the unit was certified on Dec. 20, 2022, union and PGA tour negotiators have met numerous times to reach a fair and equitable agreement covering all freelance broadcast technicians working for the PGA Tour onsite at PGA Tour events. The covered broadcast professionals include camera operators, audio and video and fiber optic technicians as well as utilities.

“This agreement is important not just for the new members who have earned the protection and stability of a union contact, but for the industry as a whole,” said IBEW International President Kenneth W. Cooper. “We’re thrilled to welcome these hard-working broadcast professionals into the IBEW, and we’re grateful to the PGA Tour for its professional and results-oriented approach to bargaining and commitment to good paying union jobs.”

The agreement reached this week is subject to a ratification vote by the members covered, which will be held in the coming days.
