VP Harris Joins IBEW Leaders for Grassroots Work Week Kick Off

Vice President Kamala Harris virtually joined International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers leaders from across the country for a nationwide call kicking off Infrastructure Grassroots Work Week

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law passed last year includes more than a trillion dollars to rebuild America’s infrastructure, from building a network of electric vehicle charging stations to investing in domestic manufacturing.

These investments will result in jobs in nearly every branch of the IBEW. To showcase the IBEW’s readiness to accomplish the country's overdue infrastructure upgrades, the union is inviting elected representatives to tour its training centers and union halls over the next few months.

“IBEW members across the nation are ready to get to work rebuilding our economy back better. We encourage every member of Congress to see for themselves just what we have to offer. The best-trained, most professional workforce in the entire electrical industry,” said IBEW President Lonnie Stephenson.

“We stand for making investments in America’s future and it will be built with union workers,” said Vice President Harris in her remarks.  “Joe Biden and I know that IBEW members are working every day to build the future of this country.”

Stephenson encourages every IBEW local to contact their lawmakers in the coming weeks to showcase what the IBEW can do in their communities to help meet its infrastructure needs.

“We stand at the brink of a historic opportunity to put IBEW members to work in building a truly modern 21st-century infrastructure. Let’s get started.”
