The President’s Budget Proposal Prioritizes Working Families
Lonnie Stephenson, President of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, issued the following statement in response to President Biden’s FY 23 budget proposal:
“The budget laid out today by President Biden delivers on his agenda to build a better America by investing where it matters: in working families, our infrastructure, and our futures.
“The coming energy revolution promises to transform jobs in every sector of the energy industry, bringing with it enormous challenges as well as incredible opportunities. The budget laid out today by President Biden addresses these challenges and opportunities head on. The IBEW’s 775,000 members applaud President Biden for investing boldly in clean energy infrastructure, innovation, manufacturing, and supply chain resources that will lead to the creation of good-paying union jobs, while also providing a much-needed social and fiscal safety net for working people in hard-hit coal, oil, and gas power plant communities who face job displacement through no fault of their own.
“We look forward to working with the White House and lawmakers in Congress to ensure President Biden’s fiscal vision is enacted, so our economy will grow from the bottom up and middle out.”
