IBEW Statement on National Lineman Appreciation Day

IBEW International President Lonnie R. Stephenson issued the following statement on National Lineman Appreciation Day:

“It’s time that we as a nation pause and recognize the hard work that America’s line workers put in each and every day to keep the power flowing to our homes, hospitals and critical infrastructure.

“Line work has always been hazardous, and this year during the COVID-19 crisis, it’s even more dangerous. But it is one of the most essential jobs there is, and it’s vital America’s line workers get the recognition they deserve.

“Lineman Appreciation Day has been celebrated on many different days over the years, but a resolution was introduced in the House of Representatives last year designating July 10, the anniversary of the death of the IBEW’s first President, Henry Miller, as the official Lineman Appreciation Day.

“This year more than any other, line workers – and all workers – deserve more than a single day recognizing their important contributions to this country.”
