As the Union Sportsmen’s Alliance celebrates a decade of
connecting union members through conservation, its Brotherhood Outdoors TV series kicked off its ninth season with
a new look when it returned to the Sportsman Channel in July.
Episode 3 of Brotherhood Outdoors features Milwaukee Local 2150 member Scott Kirchoff, who heads off to Killbuck, Ohio, on a quest for whitetail deer. It airs on Sunday, July 16 at 11 a.m.
Each episode follows union members as they share their personal histories and experiences before heading out on memory-making hunts and fishing excursions across the country. The new format is thanks to new producer Rusted Rooster, which also produces TV shows “Rival Wild” and “Dropped” for The Sportsman Channel and The Outdoor Channel.
Kirchoff, a hunting safety instructor completed an application for the show after being named safety instructor of the year in 2013 by the Wisconsin Hunter Education Instructor Association. After a show representative reached out two years ago, he never heard back and had nearly given up hope. “I didn’t think anything would come of it.” Kirchoff said. Then last September he got the call.
Kirchoff, a troubleshooter employed by We Energies, has been a hunting safety instructor since 2000. When talking about the safety of the hunt, Kirchoff said, “You can relate it a lot to work… this all comes back to the union because they preach safety.”
Active and retired union members can apply to be on the show by submitting the online application.
New episodes air Sundays at 11:00 a.m. ET.
