Siemens Mobility Campaign Update

Statement from the Vice President of the Ninth District

Tomorrow marks a pivotal moment for over 1,600 workers at Siemens Mobility in Sacramento as they head to the ballot box to decide on union representation. This election is the culmination of an extraordinary organizing campaign—one that has been over two years in the making—through the dedication and hard work of the Ninth District of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers.

This effort has been led by IBEW Local 1245, whose staff, along with the dedicated team from the Ninth District, have been involved every step of the way. Local Unions from across the Ninth District stepped up in the final weeks of the campaign—volunteering their time, making phone calls, and ensuring that every Siemens Mobility worker had access to the facts about what union representation means for them, their families, and their future. With six different dialects spoken in the workplace, it was critical that every worker had the opportunity to hear the truth about the benefits of standing together in a union.

A special thank you and kudos to Local 1245 Business Manager Bob Dean and the entire team at Local 1245 for their tireless work and unwavering commitment to giving Siemens workers a voice on the job. Their leadership and fight for fairness have been instrumental in getting us to this moment.

We are proud of the work that has been done, and we are inspired by the courage of these workers. They deserve fair wages, better working conditions, and the respect that comes with a strong union contract. No matter the outcome tomorrow, this campaign has already demonstrated the power of solidarity.

ACTION: Please visit the Siemens Workers United website, and their social media to encourage them to VOTE YES for YOUR FUTURE and join this vital movement with a comment and/or share of support and solidarity!

The Ninth District IBEW stands ready to support these workers every step of the way. Together, we are stronger. Together, we win.

UPDATE from 3/14/2025 from Siemens Workers United:

Not all elections go the right way, and unfortunately, last night’s election didn’t. Although we didn’t win the vote, today we are amazed at the courage of the hundreds of workers who stood up and stood together for a better future for their colleagues and their families. If the company chooses now to make positive changes for workers, it’s because of the courage of workers standing together. The fight goes on.
