International President Lonnie R. Stephenson issued the following statement in response to the Senate’s confirmation of retired IBEW Vice President Robert “Bobby” Klein as a member of the board of directors of the Tennessee Valley Authority:

“From its beginning, union members have played an irreplaceable role in powering the Tennessee Valley Authority, so I’m thrilled and honored that a longtime IBEW leader like Bobby Klein is joining its board of directors.

“Vice President Klein long represented IBEW members working at the TVA, including serving on its labor-management committee. Throughout his career, he upheld our union’s commitment to excellence, and I know he will continue to do so as a member of TVA’s leadership.

“His priority is bettering the communities served by the TVA, and he knows what it takes to bring labor and management together to further that goal. I commend President Biden and members of the U.S. Senate on their wise decision.”
