The 3rd Annual IBEW Local 6 Women’s History Month Dinner and Awards Ceremony was nothing short of spectacular!

Over 200 incredible IBEW women from across California gathered to honor and uplift each other under the powerful theme, “Her Story – Women in the Trades.”
They were thrilled to welcome Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi, who received a standing ovation and an honorary IBEW membership! Her heartfelt words echoed the spirit of solidarity: “Don’t agonize, organize! Unionize!”
The evening was expertly hosted by Ibew Local Six Business Manager John J. Doherty, featuring inspiring speeches from labor leaders and politicians, including San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie and Supervisors Connie Chan and Myrna Melgar.
Special recognition was given to two trailblazing women:
– Judy Ryan, a long time leader in the field who worked as a general foreman and mentor for over 25 years; and
– Judy Cabrera-Canelo, a dedicated mentor and foreman known for her exceptional work ethic.
Also, DJ Siegman gave a stellar talk- she taught at IBEW 617’s apprentice program for over 20 years.
The heartfelt stories shared by our sisters reminded us of the resilience and progress women have made in the trades.
Together, we’re not just celebrating our past; we’re paving the way for future generations of women in the trades!
Here’s to the power of unity, empowerment, and the unbreakable spirit of women in labor!
