Republican Party
Reported to Use India Call Center
to Raise Funds
August 5, 2003
First
it was boxes in a warehouse with the words, "Made in China"
covered up with duct tape. Now, its dialing for campaign dollars
from a call center in India.
An article appearing on the web site of the
Business Standard, an English-language site covering business
news in India, notes that the Republican Party has engaged a firm
in that nation to conduct a fund raising campaign over the telephone.
At least the Republican Party is consistent in its policy. President
Bush and his Republican and some Democratic allies in Congress
have repeatedly endorsed trade agreements that facilitate the export
of U.S. jobs. So why shouldnt they engage people in Asia to raise
money for them so they can get re-elected and do more of the same
with white-collar as well as blue-collar jobs?
We thought IBEW members and all working people would want to know.
