The regular meeting of the International Executive Council was called to order at 8:10 a.m., by Chairman Erikson, on Monday, June 4, 2018, in Newport Beach, California. Other members of the council in attendance were Calabro, Calvey, Burgham, Furco, Easton, and Lavin. Fourth District IEC member William Riley and Eighth District IEC Member Ross Galbraith were excused to attend business of their local unions. Resignation of William F. Daniels, The letter of resignation, effective July 2018, from International Vice President William F. Daniels to International President Lonnie R. Stephenson was read by International Executive Council Secretary Patrick Lavin to the IEC. The IEC would like to thank Brother Daniels for his service and best wishes for a well-deserved retirement. Appointment of First District International Vice President In accordance with Article IV, Section 2, of the IBEW Constitution, the members of the International Executive Council unanimously approved International President Stephenson's appointment of First District International Representative, Thomas M. Reid, as International Vice President of the First District, effective July 1, 2018. Brother Reid will serve the remainder of the unexpired term of International Vice President Daniels. International President Stephenson International President Lonnie R. Stephenson offered reports to the members of the International Executive Council on a variety of matters affecting all branches of the Brotherhood. International Secretary-Treasurer Cooper International Secretary-Treasurer Kenneth W. Cooper offered financial reports covering the IBEW Pension Fund and the Investment Portfolio of the Brotherhood both in Canada and in the United States. Legal Defense Payments for legal defense, made from the General Fund, were examined and approved in accordance with the requirements of Article X, Section 1, of the IBEW Constitution. Financial Reports The International Secretary-Treasurer's Reports For The Various Funds of the Brotherhood were presented to the members of the International Executive Council, examined, approved, and filed. Article XX and XXI Cases During the first quarter of 2018, the IBEW was involved with two Article XX disputes; Case No. 17-11, Nassau Coliseum (IBEW and IATSE) and Case No. 18-2, Refuse Basic Unit and Skilled and General Basic Unit of the City of Long Beach, California (IBEW and IAM) and was not involved in any proceedings under Article XXI. Appeals Filed with the International Executive Council The International Executive Council conducted a thorough review of the facts pertaining to an appeal from Local Union 569 member William J. Cummings, and it is the decision of the IEC to deny Brother Cumming's appeal, and uphold the decision of International Secretary-Treasurer Cooper. Amendment to the Rules and Regulations and The International Executive Council discussed amending the Return to Trade Procedures in the Rules and Regulations and the Summary Plan Description of the IBEW Pension Benefits Fund. A motion was made, seconded and approved to amend the Rules and Regulations and the Summary Plan Description of the IBEW Pension Benefits Fund. Adopt Revised Relocation Policy The International Executive Council discussed changes to the Relocation Policy. A motion was made, seconded and approved to adopt the Relocation Policy as revised. IBEW Consolidated Balance Sheet/Income Statement Reviewed and Filed IBEW Pension Benefit Fund Reviewed and Filed Retirement of International Representatives, and Director David N. Tilmont, International Representative, Michael W. Pace, International Representative, Terry L. Roovers, International Representative, Fielding W. Gurley, International Representative, G. Paul Rushton, International Representative, Timothy W. Bowden, International Representative, Thomas C. Davis, International Representative, Bennie J. Sandoval, International Representative, Richard A. Ellis, International Representative, James M. Ross, Director, Retirement of International Organizer Steven E. Fosness, Lead Organizer, Vested Pension Beverly A. Adamson, This regularly scheduled meeting was adjourned, on Monday, June 4, 2018, at 4:30 p.m. The next regular meeting of the International Executive Council will commence at noon, on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, in Chicago, Illinois.
