He was not present when his name was placed into nomination, but he came to the Moscone Center from the hospital and appeared on stage later in the afternoon to thunderous applause. Here are his remarks.] Vice President Carl Lansden: Good afternoon, brothers and sisters. I want to thank you for your prayers, because I had a few tough days. But with that effort that you displayed as brothers and sisters, those days were few in number. Thank you so much. And it’s wonderful to be here.
