International Executive Council Chairman Christopher Erikson delivered the initial report of the convention’s credentials committee.

When the IBEW’s 40th International Convention gaveled open on Monday, May 9, a total of 1,639 delegates from 515 local unions had registered and were present for the convention, representing a total membership of 597,670.

The initial report of the Credentials Committee report was presented by Sergeant-at-Arms Committee Chairman James Bua from New York Local 3 to International Executive Council Chairman Christopher Erikson.

The IBEW Constitution provides that the International Executive Council shall act as the Credentials Committee for IBEW conventions. The numbers reported Monday morning were current as of the close of registration on Sunday, May 8.

The convention adopted the committee’s initial report. Erikson said that the committee’s findings will be supplemented as necessary throughout the convention.
