Welcome to the 40th IBEW International Convention in Chicago.
IBEW delegates from across North American will come together on May 9, 2022, for the 40th gathering of the IBEW’s most important governing body, its Convention. This assembly of leaders from across the IBEW fulfills the mandate in our Constitution to choose our leaders, set and confirm our policies and renew the values at the heart of the world’s greatest union.
The City of Chicago played an important role in the early labor movement, as well as in the founding of the IBEW in 1891, so it is fitting that we gather in a place rich with both IBEW and working people’s history to celebrate this landmark Convention.
For delegates and guests attending this year’s gathering, this website will provide valuable resources about the Convention process. You will also find a checklist for what you need to bring, a schedule of events, the order and timing of votes as well as a calendar of the social events that have been planned.
Selection as a delegate to the Convention is an honor and responsibility. After two years of pandemic and a reckoning with what it means to be an “essential worker,” our two nations are primed for a resurgence of union values and buoyed by allies in Washington and Ottawa. Young people are ready to embrace the power of collective action, and we as a union of working people must be ready to answer their call. The decisions we will make in Chicago will be crucial to that as we chart our route forward and help light the path to the middle class.
The officers and staff look forward to welcoming you to Chicago.
