Local 9 Business Manager Robert Pierson,
left, received the Rerum Novarum Award from Cardinal Francis
George in October. The honor, given by St. Joseph College
Seminary at Loyola University in Chicago, selects men and
women in labor, business and government who demonstrate
respect for the dignity of the human being and human labor,
the right to organize and the right to a living wage. Pierson
has been a union activist for four decades.
