Commemorative Hard Hat
October 2004 IBEW Journal
"9-11" Tribute Raffle for COPE
A
symbol of the U.S. flag decorates a commemorative hard hat
donated by IBEW Local 663 of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at the
2003 Manufacturing Conference.
The hard hat is dedicated as a tribute to the brave men and
women who unselfishly assisted in recovery efforts following
the tragic events of September 11, 2001.
At the 2003 Manufacturing Conference the hat was raffled
to the highest bidder, with the proceeds contributed to COPE.

Local 1914, Harwick, Pennsylvania, was the successful bidder
in 2003. At the 2004 Manufacturing Conference in May, Local
1914 Business Manager Jack Juris proposed the hat be raffled
off once again as a fund-raiser for COPE. Conference participants
agreed to make the raffle an annual tradition to be repeated
at each years Manufacturing Conference.
With the 2004 raffle, IBEW members raised $600 for COPE.
Local 1963, Youngwood, Pennsylvania, was this years successful
bidder. Local 1914 provided a display case and plaque for
the hard hat, as well as a plaque on which to list the annual
successful bidder.
