IBEW Freelance Technicians Ratify New Contract with FOX Sports September 20, 2004 IBEW freelance broadcast technicians from several locals across the United States have ratified a new four-year collective bargaining agreement with FOX Pro Sports, the arm of the FOX network that produces major sporting events aired on its broadcast network. The settlement includes increases in wages, travel pay, per-diem payments and company contributions to benefit plans. The new national agreement covers several hundred freelance broadcast technicians who work on telecasts of Major League Baseball, the National football League and NASCAR for FOX Sports. Among the major events on which IBEW technicians will be working are the 2004 World Series, the 2005 Super Bowl and the Daytona 500. IBEW members work the cameras and handle audio and video operations and satellite feeds, among other tasks, on these and other broadcasts. IBEW Local Unions 4 (St. Louis), 45 (Los Angeles), 1200 (Washington, D.C.), 1212 (New York City) and 1220 (Chicago) are all parties to and assist in administering this national contract. |
