Texas Electric Co-op Votes for IBEW
Utility workers tired of anti-worker actions at a Texas electric cooperative decided strength was in numbers with IBEW in a February 27 National Labor Relations Board election. As a result, 14 utility workers at Lamar Electric Cooperative in Paris, Texas, will be represented by Local 20, Dallas. The employees, who originally reached out to the union through this Web site, embraced the protections offered by a union contract following a period marked by employee intimidation and concerns about job conditions, safety issues and changes to their medical benefits. |
