3 Million Hours,
No Lost Time
March 2003 IBEW Journal
IBEW members at Enersource Corporation
in Mississauga, Ontario, have passed 3 million hours of work without
a lost-time injury, an Ontario record for the electricity distribution
industry. Harold Vance, business representative of Local 636, Toronto,
Ontario, said the record by the 230 employees at the Enersource-Hydro
Mississauga unit dates back to October 1996.
Enersource Corporation says the 3 million hours
exceed Ontario records by a wide margin. In utilities, the previous
high is 1.44 million hours and among telephone and cable TV service
providers, the best is in the 770,000 to 1.3 million range, according
to figures compiled by Ontario’s Electric and Utility Safety
Association.
