Avaya update #3

At todays session, Avaya presented proposals on Work and Family,
the Savings Plan and Reimbursement Accounts. There were some changes
that seemed to be beneficial to our members but included elements
of retrogression.
This is Day 3 and the company has passed very little across the
table. They said their next proposals will come on Monday.
The union team presented counterproposals on LTP (Lucent Transfer
Plan), ERC (Employee Resource Center) and the various coordinator
functions.
At the afternoon IBEW subcommittee meeting, information on letters
that must be included in the contract language and proposals on
articles presented by the company were discussed.
The Omaha manufacturing table is off to a bad start. The company
is proposing changes to articles that have been in place for years.
While this is taking place, rumors are spreading over the sale of
that plant. The company should start getting serious about an agreement.
Bargaining will resume on Monday May 12.
