IBEW Scores More ILCA Awards

The IBEW Journal once again earned the recognition of union communicators by winning four awards in the annual Labor Journalism Contest sponsored by the International Labor Communications Association (ILCA).

This photo of Local 6 member Allan Smorra taken by Brother James McKnight of Local 6 earned a first place ILCA award.

The Journal earned first place awards in its classification for Best Column or Editorial and Best Original Photograph. President Ed Hills column, "The Student as Teacher," earned the Best Column prize. The dramatic cover photograph of the September 2001 issue of a Local 6 member working on the span of the Golden Gate Bridge won the best photo award.

The Journal also won second place in the highly competitive category of General Excellence for international union magazines. The fourth award was an honorable mention for Best News Story for the article "IBEW Members Aid South Pole Rescue" in the July 2001 issue.
