Volunteer Organizing Committee (VOC)
Be a volunteer organizer. Don't sit back and wait
for someone else to take action. The action starts with you.
Call the IBEW and we'll help you get started in organizing your
workplace. You won't be alone.
If there is already an organizing drive underway, step up and
volunteer your time to serve on the Voluntary Organizing
Committee. It's an important job for how well the committee
does in educating fellow employees and getting authorization cards
signed will determine whether the election campaign is successful
and you have a union. The only qualifications for committee
membership are honesty, commitment and a willingness to help
fellow workers. And, if at all possible, members should
represent a cross section of the plant.
As a voluntary organizer
in your workplace, we ask that you take this pledge.
I will... contribute my time and energy
to advance my Union and, in doing so, I will advance the worker's
cause, just as others before me have given freely of themselves to
make possible what I have and enjoy today.
... help those less fortunate than I and
will seek equality through constructive Union action.
... adhere to the Union principle that an
"injury to ONE is an injury to ALL."
... seek the truth with justice for all.
I know no hate. I seek no vengeance.
. . I will help and assist all brothers
and sisters in adversity.
... never discriminate on account of
race, color or creed.
