L.U. 363 (catv,em,govt,i,t,u&ws), NEW CITY, NYLocal 363 mourns the death of Bro. Frank Lampone. Frank believed in the IBEW and the local community. He was Local 363 president for eight years and health and safety director and political registrar for nine years. He served as referral agent from 1991 until his retirement in 1999 on the Rockland County Industrial Development Agency and Board of Electrical Examiners. Bro. Lampone also served as vice chairman on the Rockland County Sewer Commission, sergeant-at-arms for the Rockland County Central Labor Council and a member of several local political and community organizations. Frank was a coach in local youth sports programs. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954 to 1962, achieving the rank of sergeant. He is survived by his wife, Mildred, their sons, Edward, James and Frank, Jr., and their grandchildren James, Joseph, Thomas, Caroline and Douglas. Frank will be remembered as a caring, involved member of this community and a devoted union brother who served his local very well. Our sincere condolences to his family and friends. Timothy Poulin, P.S.
L.U. 364 (catv, ees,em,es,i,mt,rts& spa), ROCKFORD, ILLocal 364 recently held our annual Adopt-an-Apprentice cookout. This event is a mentoring program, where some journeymen are paired with their new first-year apprentice, while other journeymen spend time catching up with their current adopted apprentices. Our Adopt-an-Apprentice program is a great way for journeymen to help apprentices to become good sisters and brothers as well as good journeymen in our trade. Journeymen who adopt an apprentice are strongly urged to keep in contact with their apprentice throughout their apprenticeship. This is in case they have questions on the job, questions regarding the inner workings of our union, or maybe even need help with their apprentice studies. Journeymen are also urged to encourage their apprentices to attend union meetings and functions so they are exposed to all facets of our union. By the time apprentices "top out" they will have had every opportunity to become well-rounded and competent journeymen who make our union stronger. Ray Pendzinski, P.S.
L.U. 369 (i,o,u,em,es,lctt, rtb, rts &spa), LOUISVILLE, KYAfter years of trying, we have finally gotten a Kentucky electrician licensing bill passed in Frankfort. Brother Gary Osborne, President of Local 1701, spearheaded the effort and deserves a lot of credit for his hard work. The work situation in our jurisdiction is horrible, and the surrounding locals who have helped so much by employing our members are now experiencing some unemployment problems of their own. Brothers and sisters, it is our duty not only to labor but to every citizen of the United States, to get our message out to the voters. The same people who nine years ago were swept into Congress on a balanced budget platform, are telling us now that balancing the budget isnt important. The huge deficits we face as a result of Mr. Bushs "voodoo" economic policies are a minor distraction to this administration. The United States in general and organized labor specifically, cannot survive another five years of Bush-Cheney and their henchmen. Please support labor-endorsed candidates! Scotty Pulliam, P.S.
