Local 50 Members
Ratify September 12, 2002 Members of Richmond Local 50 voted overwhelmingly for a five-year contract offer from Dominion Virginia Power. Nearly a month after a two-week strike of 3,700 workers, 81 percent of ballots were returned with a 10 to 1 majority in favor. Highlights of the five-year contract include a 14.8 percent annual wage increase and a benefit enhancement to the Social Security supplemental fund. The contract also includes local union fiduciary control over a fund that provides health care benefits to retirees. A tentative agreement was reached on August 15.
